VPN Connection Setup

1. Go into Control Panel and double click on Internet Options.

2. Once within the Internet Properties, click the Connections tab and then click the Add button within Dial-Up and Virtual Private Network Settings.

3. Once the Connection Wizard opens, select Connect to a private network through the Internet and then press the Next button.

4. On the next screen, type vpn.montana.edu within the Host name or IP address field. Press the Next button.

5. Select any name that will be recognizable to you for easy find and connection to the server. Next, click the Finish button.

6. Next the Connection Settings window will display, and we can just leave the settings as is.

7. Once all steps are completed, we will be back at the Internet Properties screen, and the VPN connection will be listed. We will need to then set the radio button to Never Dial a Connection. Next, press Apply and then Ok to save the settings and exit.

8. To access the VPN connection, Click on Start, Connect To, and the created VPN connection. Once we have access the login screen, input your MSU Username and Password. This will then connect you to the MSU servers, and you will be able to access the servers as if you were sitting in the building.
