Retro Active Master’s Visiting Professorship

Endowed Visiting Professorship

Montana State University School of Architecture has always provided a quality educational program, dedicated faculty and diverse learning opportunities to students and future architects. The School continues to support this pledge by creating the Retro Active Master’s Visiting Professorship. This will be the first professorship at the School of Architecture, the first at the College of Arts and Architecture and one of only eight at Montana State University.

This professorship will carry great honor and prestige and assist the School in carrying on its tradition of exposing the School, the University and the
Bozeman community to world class professionals and distinguished academics.  Professorships attract, retain and recognize established scholars and professionals who are leaders in the built environment and whose contributions are critical to maintaining excellence in architecture education.

Your Investment Today Ensures Quality in the Future
Professorships makes an incredible impact!  The School of Architecture faculty is currently comprised of recognized leaders, rising stars, inspirational teachers, respected researchers, visionaries and dedicated mentors.  They believe deeply in the School’s mission and contribute to the betterment of the academic world, students, our community and our profession. This professorship has the capacity to immediately raise the standard of our already prestigious faculty as well as increase the School’s international reputation, enhance recruitment and retention opportunities and bolster diminishing state support of higher education.

The Retro Active Master’s Visiting Professorships will support the salary of the visiting faculty member named to the position each year. A million dollar endowment provides a permanent source of income to augment the vision and mission of the School and will become the primary building block of our legacy. By any measure, the establishment of a visiting professorship represents the commitment of the School’s alumni and friends to support and sustain the vigor and advancement of the MSU School of Architecture. We believe that by supporting the visiting professorship we can be instrumental in helping bring new knowledge to the School of Architecture and in turn allow visiting professors to see, first hand, what an impressive program is situated in the heart of Montana.

Ways to Give

Cash: The School has had over 420 inquiries about the retro-masters degree. If 100% of 420 alumni receiving their retro-masters degree committed only $1500 to the Retro Active Master’s Visiting Professorship, we would achieve our goal!

Cash pledged over time:  These cash gifts can be made over a period of as many as three years.  A gift of $1500 made over a period of three years is as little as $42 per month!

Stocks & Appreciated Assets:  Securities and other appreciated property are an alternative to cash, and in most cases, the full fair-market value of the gift is tax deductible – and capital gains taxes are often avoided.

Planned Giving:  Bequests, charitable trusts, gifts of life insurance, and other methods can offer significant tax advantages for donors interested in establishing their own personal legacies.

Status of Retro Active Masters Visiting Professorship

The Advisory Council has been instrumental in raising commitments of over $400,000 for the Retro Active Master’s Professorship. Our goal is to achieve 100% funding, via gifts and multiple year pledges, of the $1,000,000 required for the Retro Active Master’s Visiting Professorship by the June 2009 Celebration and Reunion. We are confident that this will happen, but we need your help!
